Start ABOUT US Anniversary

classic-for-kids Our anniversary in summer 2011 offers a special adventure for our very young guests: “Nola Note’s Voyage through the Orchestra”

Our goal is to teach about classical music through something children can understand: play!

All sorts of musical genres are present in the everyday life of children, but classical music is often a little neglected. Nonetheless, classical music is an important part of cultural heritage and is particularly relevant in Germany. The positive effects of classical music for children have been widely researched and many are even of the opinion that it can effect the development of babies in the womb. Many musical educationalists are convinced of it: listening to and understanding classical music improves learning and concentration abilities, as well as social interactions. Put simply: children are curious, and not biased against the classics - it’s just a matter of finding the right approach.

Throughout the last 20 years, Classic Open Air has regularly included special children’s concerts in its programme, but that wasn’t enough enough for us!

In 2002 we used classical music to delight children from Venezuela, with the help of musician Eduardo Villegas. 15 boys and girls showed off their abilities on the Classic Open Air stage, as a reward for their efforts to learn musical instruments.

Of course, we also wanted to do something for the children of our own city. We therefore decided to support the Berlin charity AMSOC and its sponsorship programme for children of mentally disabled parents. The sponsors and sponsored children of the programme were provided with free tickets to the Classic Open Air Festival, to give them an extra special day out.

To musically mix things up for children once more in 2011, we have the special concert “Nola Note’s Voyage through the Orchestra” on this year’s programme. Targeted at children, with fun and excitement, our concert creates a journey through the world of classical music. Nola Note’s Voyage through the Orchestra is simultaneously a thrilling learning adventure, an interactive theatrical experience and a colourful party! The children and Nola alike learn together during their trip through the orchestra all about the different instruments, their sounds and characteristics. The concert also helps to enthuse children to learn a musical instrument, since it features many young musicians who have already made this dream a reality.

This interactive sound experience for old and young is suitable for all aged 5 and up - come and visit our classical music adventure playground!

The children’s concert “Nola Note’s Voyage through the Orchestra” is to take place on Saturday, 9th July 2011 at 11am.
