First Night
Highlights of Classical, Film and Pop Music
In cooperation with the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb)

- Fireworks Final –

The opening concert of the Classic Open Air festival 2015 is the First Night with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg, a colorful mixture of famous artists and the traditional fireworks display. The all-rounder Lars Redlich guides with the rbb presenter Madeleine Wehle through the evening and gives proof of his various entertainer qualities. Because he not only introduces the diverse participants, but he also performs with them and runs through various musical genres.

An Italian Summer Night
Bravura Arias and Duets from Aida to Santa Lucia

This concert is definitely a must-have for friends of classical music and for Italy fans as well. Fabio Andreotti, star tenor and a Roman born-and-bred, presents popular Italian classics with three impressive sopranos. In addition to beautiful bravura arias like „E lucevan le stelle“ from Puccini´s Tosca or heartbreaking duets like „Parigi o Cara“ from Verdi´s La Traviata there are also some Neapolitan and Sicilian canzoni and blithe serenades.

Magical Romantic in Light und Fire
Chopin, Brahms, Schumann, Smetana and many more

At this concert pivots all on the fantasy and dream worlds of the Romantic in the picturesque atmosphere of the Gendarmenmarkt. In addition to pieces by other great composers like Chopin, Brahms or Smetana there sound „The Wedding March“ from Mendelssohn-Bartholdy´s musical version of A Midsummer Night´s Dream, excerpts from famous operas like Weber´s The Marksman or Nicolai´s The Merry Wives of Windsor and the piano piece „Träumerei“ by Schumann. The romantic atmosphere is accentuated with imaginative light installations after dark.

A French Summer Night
Piaf, Brel and Classical Music

- Special Guest: UTE LEMPER -

The epitome of French music is the chanson, which often extols with ironic lyrics the love, the age, the politics and the world-weariness as well. The most beautiful French songs from Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco via Jacques Brel through to Charles Aznavour take the center stage of this concert. But also highlights of French classical music and Nouvelle Chanson, a modern version of the old hits, are going to be heard at this evening.

For Frank Sinatra´s Centenary
A Tribute with Roger Cicero, Big Band & Special Guests

On 12 December 2015 one of the greatest entertainers of the American and international show business would have been 100 years old. Frank Sinatra broke many records of the entertainment industry in his 60-year career and put his unmistakable stamp on many worldwide hits like "My Way" or "Strangers in the Night". The German musician Roger Cicero will assume the role of "Ol'Blue Eyes" and presents the most beautiful Frank Sinatra hits with his Big Band and special guests.
